The Equal Access Act of 1984 ensures the right of student religious clubs to meet before and after classes in public secondary schools so long as the school receives federal funds and permits any student non-curricular club to meet during non-instructional time. The Act does not allow teachers to actively participate in club activities and "non-school persons" may not control or regularly attend club meetings.
